"How much does the music dictate real life and how much does real life dictate the music?" by Maury Povich

"Stakes Is High" De La Soul's fourth full length album was released on June 18, 1996. "Stakes Is High" dealt with many topics from the current state of "hiphop" to the commercialization of the "hiphop" culture.

Remember this was a 1996 album, here we are in 2013... Seem to us that De La Soul gave us a jewel with "Stakes Is High."

<![CDATA[Scarface Speaks...]]>Fri, 26 Apr 2013 16:39:35 GMThttp://www.vervesplash.net/1/post/2013/04/scarface-speaks.htmlPicture
In this exclusive in-depth interview conducted by HardKnockTV, Scarface talks to Nick Huff Barili about the current state of Hip Hop and that he loves Kendrick Lamar but that older white executives that are in control of Hip Hop are not in touch with the streets and don't care about the culture. Scarface goes on to say that he thinks its a conspiracy to make black people look stupid and brainwash a generation of hip hoppers with "this crud".

Scarface's advice to upcoming artists is to uphold the integrity of the craft and not to let the executives dictate our culture.

Scarface also talks about touring and recording with Tupac in this interview as well.

<![CDATA[DUE DILIGENCE Must Be Conducted At All Times!]]>Mon, 22 Apr 2013 18:35:12 GMThttp://www.vervesplash.net/1/post/2013/04/due-diligence-must-be-conducted-at-all-times.htmlPicture
In 1989, five black and latino teenagers from Harlem were arrested and later convicted of raping a white woman in New York City’s Central Park. They spent between 6 and 13 years in prison before a serial rapist confessed that he alone had committed the crime, leading to their convictions being overturned.

"The Central Park Five" tells the story of that horrific crime, the rush to judgment by the police, a media clamoring for sensational stories and an outraged public, and the five lives upended by this miscarriage of justice.

"The Central Park Five" premiered April 16, 2013 on PBS. PBS will be re airing "The Central Park Five" this Friday at 8 am EST. So set your DVR to record.

A special thanks goes out to Ken Burns, David McMahon & Sarah Burns for creating a must see documentary.
